<p>PURPOSE:To reduce average power consumption by changing the frequency of a driving clock in accordance with processing contents in a microprocessor using a C-MOS. CONSTITUTION:In a 1st state for waiting a rapid processing request, a microprocessor 1 controls a frequency dividing device 4 in a clock circuit 2 so that the device 4 outputs flow clocks and presets frequency dividing ratio setting data corresponding to rapid driving clock frequency. Consequently, the processor 1 operates in accordance with the slow clocks and power consumption is reduced as compared to the rapid processing executing state. When a rapid processing request signal is applied from the external under said status, the device 4 outputs rapid clocks in accordance with the frequency dividing ratio setting data for the execution of rapid processing. Consequently, the processor 1 is turned to a 2nd state operating in accordance with the rapid clocks. In the status that the processor 1 is waiting rapid processing, power consumption can be reduced.</p> |
