The system (2) includes a circuit (6) for amplifying the signals from the device, the amplitudes of the signals being proportional to the energy of the radiation. The system also includes a discrimination and shaping circuit (8), with several energy windows, fitted with means for selecting the windows. This circuit (8), given the selected window, provides pulses from the amplified signals only for radiation with energy lying within the window, the intention being to count the pulses. The probe comprises the above system and the radiation- detecting device. Application to the measurement of the activity of a radioactive X-ray or gamma ray source. <IMAGE>
