The valve is closed or opened by the action of pinching or releasing a resiliently deformable sleeve. It has a light weight open-sided box section valve housing (10) combined with a pair of substantially cylindrical sleeve supports (12, 12a) which allow the use of a resilient sleeve (14) which incorporates no internal bracing.
