PURPOSE:To produce a large-sized glass with good yield, by adding a basic reagent to a specified alkylsilicate to prepare a sol, gelling the prepared sol, then drying and sintering the obtained wet gel. CONSTITUTION:The wet gel is obtained by adding ethyl alcohol, water and a basic reagent (e.g. aq. ammonia) as a catalyst for a reaction to alkylpolysilicate oligomer such as a dimer - octamer of alkylsilicate as alkylsilicate, mixing, pouring into the container and gelling. Then the dried gel obtained by drying the wet gel is sintered. |
