PURPOSE:To prevent a space from being generated in a line feed portion of a vertically enlarged character, by a construction wherein a line feed pitch is made slightly smaller than the height of one line printing so that the printing of upper and lower lines can overlap on each other. CONSTITUTION:When a character A is vertically doubled to be printed, a master control part 1 retrieves a character generator 4 from the code of the character A to read the font of the character A and develop it in a RAM 3. In this case, each font is vertically developed two times to be doubled in the height direction. After that, the master control part 1 supplies a line feed command to a line feed control part 6 to feed a line by a height l of one line printing and reads the upper portion of the font from the RAM 3 to supply it to a printing control part 5; thus, the upper portion of the character is printed. Thereafter, the master control part 1 supplies a line feed command to the line feed control part 6. In this case, a line feed pitch is made smaller than the height l of one line printing so that the lower portion of the font is printed in the same column as a predetermined column. In this manner, upper and lower characters partially overlap on each other, which prevents the generation of a gap. |
