The invention relates to a safety harness used in climbing, mountaineering and on construction sites. The harness 10 has an integral figure-of-eight structure and is composed of a chest-harness section 12 at the top part and of a sit harness 14 in the bottom part, consisting of a pair of thigh (leg) loops 16, 18. Means for assembling the sit harness 14 to the chest harness 12 comprise two dorsal straps 20, 22 crossed at the back by virtue of a rear stitching 24, and two lateral linking straps 38, 40 connecting, via the front, the thigh (leg) loops 16, 18 to the rear stitching 24 by means of a pair of shoulder straps 28, 26. The chest harness 12 comprises, moreover, two chest straps 42, 44 secured to the rear strand of each shoulder strap 28, 26 at an intermediate anchoring point 46, 48 located above the stitching 24. The two anchoring points 46, 48 and the stitching 24 are arranged at the apices of a deformable isosceles triangle, permitting adjustment of the chest harness 12 to different sizes. <IMAGE>
