FERROELECTRIC LIQUID CRYSTAL PANEL

摘要

PURPOSE:To improve the memory effect of a liquid crystal panel by depositing magnetism fluoride on a substrate from the direction diagonal thereto and executing orientation control of a ferroelectric liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION:A cell consisting of the two sheets of glass substrates 132 formed with transparent electrode layers 133 and vapor deposited layers 134 is disposed between upper and lower polarizing plates 131. MgF2 is deposited by evaporation on the layers 133 from the prescribed vapor deposition angle (e.g.: 85 deg.) to form the fine projection groups of MgF2 in the layers 134 in the specified direction thereof. The vapor deposition directions 137 on the layers 134 are reversed from each other to constitute the cell. The ferroelectric liquid crystal layer 135 is formed preferably to <=5mum thickness in the cell. The liquid crystal molecules are oriented to the structure to cause the smallest elastic deformation according to the above-mentioned memory constitution. The liquid crystal panel having the high memory effect and excellent display grade is thus obtd.
