The present invention relates to a centrifugally cast composite roller for hot or cold rolling mills, which roller is provided with a roller barrel or wearing course in the form of a casing composed of a cast steel having the following basic composition, expressed in % by weight 0.5-2.0 of C 0.2-0.7 of Si 0.2-0.7 of Mn 3.0-7.0 of Cr 0.5-2.5 of Ni 1.0-6.0 of Mo 1.0-6.0 of V and, where appropriate, Co + W < 5.0, with the remainder being Fe together with normal impurities. The steel is characterized by a relatively low carbide content (5- 15%), which gives it good crack resistance when heated. It also displays good hardenability even in association with a heat treatment of 500-600 degree C. <IMAGE> |
