<p>A penetrator (14) for fully draining the liquid (12) in multi-dose vials (10) when drawing liquid into a syringe (20). The apparatus also provides a cuff (24) and a sleeve (30) that are encoded for preventing misidentification of the contents of a syringe by identifying the syringe with the vial from which the contents of the syringe were drawn. The cuff (24) is mounted on the penetrator (14) and the sleeve (30) is mounted on the port end of the syringe (20), so that a mismatch between the cuff (24) and sleeve (30) is readily detected when the port end of the syringe (20) is attached to the penetrator (14) to withdraw liquid from the vial.</p> |
