A miniaturised female electrical contact element has a first part (2) from which two self-supporting, mutually opposite contact springs (3), which run towards one another in the direction of their free ends (4), extend downwards, which first part (2) can receive between these springs (3) a corresponding pin-shaped part of a male electrical contact element with a further part for fastening to a printed circuit, the female eletrical contact element being connected to a part (8) of essentially C-shaped cross-section which laterally bears on the first part (2) and which in the bottom part of the female electrical contact element is longer than the first part (2) in order to form a pin base (socket, receptacle) (10).
