The invention relates to a pressing and separating device for metal strips to be wound on winding reels 19, 20. The pressing and separating device 24 consists of a brush 25, combined in one constructional unit, and a knife 26 which can be folded away. The device is arranged on the side opposite the winding reel 19 and can be advanced, towards the winding head of the winding reel 19, against the strip 6.
