An outer wall structure for torque converters, etc., in which the end portions (2, 5) of an input housing (1) and a vane wheel shell (4) of a pump are joined to each other by welding. One end portion (5) out of the end portions (2, 5) is provided in its outer circumferential section with a smaller-diameter outer circumferential part (15) continuous with the free end of the end portion (5), and a larger-diameter outer circumferential part (16), and the inner circumferential surface (20) of the other end portion (2) is engaged with the smaller-diameter outer circumferential part (15) and larger-diameter circumferential part (16) so as to form a spatter capturing clearance (27) between the inner circumferential surface of the smaller-diameter outer circumferential part (15) and the above-mentioned inner circumferential surface (20).
