In a centrifugal pump, a pump impeller (4) forms together with an annular section (9) a unit comprising a magnetised material. A primary magnet (11) is driven by an electric motor (14), and drives the impeller (4) by virtue of the magnetic forces acting on the annular section (9). Since the impeller is magnetic, it separates metal particles from the liquid loop. <IMAGE>
