What is described is a process for the production of patterned yarns or sheet-like textile structures, in which selected regions of the yarn or sheet-like structure are irradiated with a light beam generated by a laser and the surface of the yarn or sheet-like structure thereby melts on or down and/or erodes in a punctiform, linear or sheet-like manner, according to German Patent Application P 3540411.6.
