SIMPLE HERPESVIRUS GLYCOPROTEIN AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

NEW MATERIAL:A simple herpesvirus glycoprotein originated from a simple herpesvirus glycoprotein gB and having a mol.wt. of approximately 50,000. USE:A raw material for a vaccine which prevents simple herpesvirus (HSV) diseases. PREPARATION:For example, simple herpesvirus (HSV)-infected cells or HSV particles are ground with a grinder and the ground soln. is centrifuged to separate the supernate. The supernate is passed through a column filled with Sepharose CU-6B on which a monoclonal antibody reacting with the gB is adsrbed and then the gB adsorbed on the Sepharose CU-6B is eluted with a soln. contg. diethylamine. The eluted gB is treated with a protease to provide the simple herpesvirus glycoprotein with a mol.wt. of approximately 50,000.
