PURPOSE:To obtain the titled carbonaceous material, useful for optimizing atmospheric environment for living bodies and having excellent reducing action, by washing a carbonaceous material cut to provide sharp cut ends with weak alkaline water and subjecting the carbonaceous material to negative ion charging. CONSTITUTION:Hard active carbon, e.g. hard charcoal such as ilex (Quercus phillyraeoides A. Gray), etc., is cut to provide sharp cut ends. The resultant carbonaceous material 1 is then washed with weak alkaline water at about 8 pH, placed on an electronic mat (B) connected to a negative ion generator (A) and subjected to negative ion charging to afford the titled carbonaceous material 1, which is contained in, e.g. a plastic container 2 having holes (2a), and used in a desired place, e.g. bathtub, water tank, etc. |
