A disc cartridge has a housing main body (12) with an opening therein for exposing a disc-shaped recording medium to the outside and for rotatably housing therein a disc-shaped recording medium. A shutter for opening and/or closing the opening of the housing main body is slidably mounted on the housing main body so as to be movable in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the disc cartridge is inserted into a recording and/or reproducing apparatus and to both the right and the left directions of the centre of the opening of the housing main body. A lid is attached to the housing main body and is openable and closable, and locking means (20) is provided and comprises an engaging member (20b) on the housing main body (12) to be engaged with a hook portion (21) formed on the lid, a single flexible arm member (20a), an operation portion (20c) for breaking the engagement between the engaging member (20b) and the hook portion (21) and a guide (20e, 20f) for guiding the operation portion (20c) rectilinearly.
