<p>A cold shrinkable sleeve comprising a sheet (1) of resilient material adapted to be placed around a cable or tube (6) to be repaired. The sheet is provided with spaced-apart holes (2) and is first resiliently elongated. Removable spacing means or struts (5) are then positioned in the elongated holes (2) to hold the sheet in its elongated state. To form a sleeve, the sheet is placed around the cable and its ends are joint together. The spacing means are then removed whereby the sleeve shrinks towards the cable. The sheet has the particularity of having its cross section reduced between the spaced apart holes. This reduction of section is realized by means of grooves (3) or small holes (4) extending through the sheet. Owing to the latter, the internal forces appearing in the elongated sheet are distributed in an asymmetrical way that avoids the spacing means to overlap each other. Additionally, anti-friction means comprising a layer of silicon coated polyester film (14, 15) covering the upper and the lower surface of the spacing means are provided for facilitating the withdrawal of the latter. <IMAGE> <IMAGE> <IMAGE></p> |
