<p>PURPOSE:To enable a ball thread mechanism to accurately maintain its axial core, by providing supporting bearings of a ball nut and its axial direction regulating means in a steering gear housing. CONSTITUTION:A steering gear housing 30 is constituted of two gear housings 17, 23, and a rack shaft 22 is provided to be slidably arranged in the steering gear housing 30. The rack shaft 22 is formed being divided into two parts of rack 22a and worm thread 22b, and a ball nut 34 is provided to be arranged in the periphery of the worm thread 22b. The ball nut 34 is turnably supported to bearings 36, 37, and the bearing 37 is stopped by a bearing retainer 38. The bearing retainer 38, which is screwed by a thread to the steering gear housing 17, restricts a preload of the bearings 36, 37 for the ball nut 34. A regulating means is constituted of the bearing retainer 38 and a lock nut 39.</p> |
