The mechanism includes a spring disposed resiliently between a sleeve and a lead pipe for clamping a chuck. The spring rear end is restrained by a locking ring loosely locked on the chuck. The chuck rear end has a step. The step restricts rearward ring movement, and is spaced from the chuck rear extreamity. The chuck is fitted to the end of the lead pipe, and has a head loosely mounting a chuck clamping ring abutted by the sleeve.
