PURPOSE:To enhance the dispersion properties to the binder by forming a coating layer composed of a compound containing aluminium and silicon on the particle surface of an iron oxide magnetic powder, thereby providing the individual magnetic powder particles with the function as an abrasive. CONSTITUTION:On the particle surface of an iron oxide magnetic powder, a coating layer composed of a compound containing aluminium and silicon is formed. The coating amount of the coating layer is preferably on the order of 2-10pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of iron oxide magnetic powder. The ratio of the aluminium component and the silicon component is preferably in the range of 1:0.2-1:2 in the atomic ratio of Al:Si. With this, the individual magnetic powder particles are provided with the function of an abrasive, thereby enhancing the dispersion properties to the binder.
