The method for transporting and processing crushable material, pref. coal, involves loading the material in an uncrushed state into a vessel (1) which has several holds (2-6). On loading the vessel, at least one hold is left empty, whilst the material is loaded into the remainder. A source hold is then selected from those filled with material. A first transport device (7) then moves the uncrushed material from the source hold to a mill (8) for crushing. Crushed material is then moved by another transport device (9) to the empty hold, and the whole process is repeated until the source hold is empty. The complete process is then enacted from another hold filled with uncrushed material, the crushed material being loaded into the now empty original source hold. Each filled hold is then worked on the same basis until all material has been crushed and reloaded, leaving one last hold empty. The vessel then docks at a floating coal power works for discharge. |
