PURPOSE:To make the contrast of an image high by incorporating a tetrazolium compd. consisting of a ballasted anionic moiety and a cationic moiety into a hydrophilic colloidal layer. CONSTITUTION:A tetrazolium compd. consisting of a ballasted anionic moiety and a cationic moiety is incorporated into the hydrophilic colloidal layer of a silver halide photographic sensitive material. A typical example of the tetrazolium compd. is represented by the formula (where each of R1 and R3 is alkyl, aryl or a heterocyclic group, R2 is allyl, phenyl, naphthyl, a heterocyclic group, alkyl or the like, X<-> is an anion and n=1 or 2). Since the sensitive material contains the tetrazolium compd., the contrast of an image formed can be high with a developing soln. having high stability. |
