The invention relates to carbazolone derivatives of formula (I): where A represents a group of formula: wherein R represents a hydroxyl or 2 - methyl - 1H - imidazole - 1 -yl group: B represents a group of formula (VI): wherein R 1 represents hydrogen or a methyl or ethyl group; or A and B form together a group of formula (VII): wherein R 2 represents a methyl or ethyl group; or A and B form together a group of formula (VIII): and it also relates to a process for producing said derivatives used for the preparation of the compounds of formula (I), wherein A and B are the same as in formula (I), but B can also be hydrogen, thus being suitable for the synthesis of [ 9- methyl - 3 [( 2 - methyl - 1H - imidazole - 1 - yl ) methyl] - 1, 2, 3, 9 - tetrahydro- 4H - ( 2 - mecarbazole - 4 - one (ondansetron).
