摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material imparting sufficient developed color density, having sufficient color forming sensitivity, suitable for high speed recording and further imparting high background whiteness, by together using a leuco dye, a coupler and a specific phenolic compound as an auxiliary component for both of them. CONSTITUTION:A phenolic compound represented by general formula (I) (wherein R1 and R2 are a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group and X is a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group) is together used in a thermal recording material utilizing the color forming reaction of a leuco dye and a coupler as an auxiliary component. Said phenolic compound has high capacity dissolving the coupler and the leuco dye at the time of heating and, by regulating m.p. of said phenolic compound, the thermal recording material having arbitrary sensitivity can be obtained and, from the aspect of storage stability and sensitivity, one having m.p. of 40-150 deg.C is pref. The leuco dye is adapted alone or as a mixture of two or more kinds of leuco dyes and a triphenylmethane or fluorane type leuco compound is pref. used. As the coupler, various electron acceptive compounds, for example, a phenolic compound and a thiophenolic compound etc. are pref. adapted.
