PURPOSE:To always stably obtain a high grade printing regardless of the degree of the surface smoothness of paper subjected to transfer, by mounting an apparatus for detecting the surface smoothness of the paper subjected to transfer and applying the energy suitable for the surface smoothness detected of the paper subjected to transfer to a thermal head. CONSTITUTION:A stylus 10 traces the surface 1a of paper 1 subjected to transfer and the up-and-down movement of the stylus 10 due to the unevenness of the surface 1a of the paper 1 subjected to transfer is electromagnetically converted by as pickup 11 and sent to a preamplifier 12, a band-pass filter 13 and an amplifier 14 to amplify a signal. Then, in matching relation to the frequency and amplitude of the signal, the energy applied to a thermal head is determined by a correction circuit 15. The correction circuit 15 has the information relating to an ink characteristic and the optimum quantity of energy corresponding to the smoothness of the surface 1a of the paper 1 subjected to transfer is operated and outputted. The voltage of a variable constant voltage circuit 4 is determined by the signal outputted and voltage for performing the optimum printing is given from the variable constant voltage circuit 4, and the energy applied to the thermal head 3 is regulated on the basis of said voltage. |
