PURPOSE:To produce a blackish-silver article having fine metallic luster by coating the surface of a member with cermet consisting of metallic Cr and alumina. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a member is coated with cermet consisting of metallic Cr or golden Nichrome and alumina by vapor deposition, sputtering or ion plating. The cermet contains 5-50wt% alumina and the member is made of plastics, a metal, ceramics or the like. An underlayer of Ni, Cr or the like is formed beforehand on the surface of the member by plating or coating. A blackish-silver article having highly decorative metallic luster, superior corrosion and wear resistance and adhesion is obtd. at a low cost with high reproducibility. |
