PURPOSE:To reduce the production cost of a high-brightness steel sheet by subjecting a roll surface to a hardness distribution uniformizing treatment then to dulling, etc., and executing cold rolling by using such roll. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a roll base material consisting of a high alloy steel is subjected to the hardness distribution uniformizing treatment by metal plating, etc., and is then subjected to dull finishing by a shot blasting method, electric discharge machining method, etc. The surface is subjected to a surface hardening treatment by a Cr plating treatment, nitriding treatment, etc., at need. The cold rolling of the steel sheet is then executed by using the roll subjected to such treatments. The surface roughness of the roll is averaged by the hardness distribution uniformizing treatment and the undulation of the roll surface is eliminated by the dull finishing. The high brightness of the steel sheet at the time of the cold rolling is, therefore, improved. Since the need for large-sized equipment such as laser beam processing equipment is thereby eliminated, the production cost of the high-brightness steel sheet is reduced. |
