The invention relates to a device making it possible to protect objects in shops against theft, whilst allowing them to be tried on, in particular articles of clothing, so that they can not be taken away or moved by people other than those authorised to do so. The device is intended to prevent movement of objects, and is of the type comprising a metal or electrical cable intended to be passed through a part of the object to be protected, and provided with means for attachment to a stationary structure, and means for locking the cable strand which is passed through the object to be protected, characterised in that the cable 1 terminates in a fixed loop 2, and in that the locking system 3 is provided, on the one hand with means 6 for permanent connection to the cable 1, and on the other hand with an orifice 7 intended to receive the end 4 of the cable, and inside which is placed an expansion system 8 controlled by a lock 9, and allowing the system 3 for locking the cable 1 to be made fast. The device according to the invention is in particular intended for protecting articles of clothing and objects through which it is possible to pass a cable, against theft, but without this being limiting. <IMAGE>
