PURPOSE:To prevent data breakdown due to a memory fault by shifting the contents of a buffer segment having a 1-bit error within a cache memory to another buffer segment. CONSTITUTION:A disk cache device 1 consists of a microprocessor 2, an error detection/correction code adding part 4 which adds the 1-bit and 2-bit error detection/correction codes for each word when data are written to a cache memory 3, an error detecting part 5 which performs the 1-bit and 2-bit error detection/correction jobs for each word when data are read out, the memory 3 which contains a table having the store-in mode flags and temporary data flags for each segment. The processor 2 checks the contents of the segment where said store-in mode flag is turned on when an indication is received from a host processor 9. Then the processor 2 shifts data to another segment if the checked segment has a 1-bit error. |
