PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a quasi-gap from being generated and exhibit satisfactory electro-magnetic conversion characteristics. SOLUTION: A magnetic head is formed by forming a pair of magnetic core thin films 3, 4 on a non-magnetic substrate with a gap film 2 being interposed therebetween, and an end surface in which the gap film and the pair of magnetic core thin films are exposed functions as a sliding surface against a magnetic recording medium. End surfaces of the pair of magnetic core thin films 3, 4 exposed on the sliding surface have shapes in which sides thereof, except for those interposing the gap film 2 therebetween, are positioned so as to be in non-parallel to a track width direction.
