PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor the state of a snow layer all the time, also to suppress bending and bending stress acting upon a detector itself and also to automatically return to the original position after the melting of snow. SOLUTION: This system consists of a post 1 buried in the ground, plurality of detectors 2 which are attached to the post 1 vertically toward the ground and connected respectively by plurality of expansion/contraction type flexible joints 3 on the same axis with appropriate intervals provided and an outside air temperature indicator 8 provided at the upper part of a detector 2 located at the top, and a detector 2 is provided with a barrel, a detecting means which is provided in the barrel and detects the moving quantity of a snow layer from its magnitude, direction, angular velocity and inclination angle of external force when the external force is applied due to the displacement of the snow layer, a snow layer thermometer which is provided at the outer circumference of the barrel and detects temperature at each depth of the snow layer, an operating means which is provided in the barrel and which performs operation processing data detected by the detecting means and each thermometer and a transmitting means which transmits the data undergoing operation processing in the operating means.
