PURPOSE:To enable high speed processing with a small computer, in a machining information production system for automatically machining a three-dimensional freely curved surface, by producing an optimal tool path data satisfying design specification while considering the surface roughness of finally finished work. CONSTITUTION:A freely curved surface production system 1 produces a profile data of a geometrical model representing a three-dimensional freely curved surface of an object such as mechanically machined part or a metal mold based on the input operation of operator and accumulates said data in a file. The produced profile data are converted into machining data, i.e. data for determining the moving path of a cutting tool, in a freely curved surface cutting tool path production system 2. The machining data are transferred to a floppy disc which is mounted on a NC milling machine 3 so as to carry out automatic machining, the systems 1, 2 comprise computers associated with input information devices 4 such as keyboards, digitizers, etc. and displays 5 such as CRT for providing user interface. |
