The body of the sheath has a pair of span portions defining a cavity for retaining each of the blade portions of the scissors. The span portions are separated by a slot that is of a sufficient width to allow items to be cut to be inserted. The slot has a lengthwise direction parallel with the cutting line of the blade members, except for an inner end section that is transversely aligned with the lengthwise direction of the slot. The sheath is made of a durable and resilient material, such as a moulded plastics material.
