A closure element for fittings in the form of hoses, for covering elongated material, is described, which consist of a plastic strip which shrinks under the influence of heat. The closure element is a plastic profile having at least one longitudinal slot for the introduction of the strip edges. The width of the slot can be narrowed under the influence of heat.
