The present invention relates to a door handle for motor vehicles, with a handle housing which can be inserted into a corresponding cutout in the door panel and which has, towards the outside, an approximately rectangular elongate orifice covered, at least in its upper region, by a pivotably designed elongate handle part which can be grasped from underneath and pulled out by introducing the fingers of the human hand. So that fingers and/or part of a glove can reliably be prevented from being jammed between the pivotable handle part and the stationary handle housing, provision is made, within the scope of the present invention, for the handle part (7) to have a handle shell (11) which is completely closed on all sides, with the exception of downwards, and into which the fingers of the human hand can be introduced.
