PURPOSE:To obtain a gear oil composition for a driving system, containing an a metal cleaner, dialkyl dithiophosphate, etc., in a blend of a base oil with an olefin sulfide, alkyl phosphate compound, etc., and capable of improving friction as well as abrasion characteristics and sustaining extreme pressure properties. CONSTITUTION:A gear oil composition containing (A) an olefin sulfide in an amount of 0.5-4pt.wt. expressed in terms of S, (B) an alkyl phosphate compound and/or alkyl (di)thiophosphate based compound in an amount of 0.02-0.2pts.wt. expressed in terms of P and further (C) at least one of (i) a metal cleaner in an amount of 0.01-0.5pts.wt. expressed in terms of metal, (ii) a metal salt of a dialkyl dithiophosphate in an amount of 0.04-0.6pts.wt. expressed in terms of metal, (iii) a metal salt of a dialkyl dithiocarbamate in an amount of 0.04-0.6 pts.wt. expressed in terms of metal and (iv) zinc naphthenate or lead naphthenate in an amount of 0.02-0.5pts.wt. expressed in terms of metal in 100pts.wt. based oil. The resultant gear oil composition is used as a common lubricating oil, etc., for automotive speed changer gear devices and rear axle differential gears. |
