My Patent No. 3313309.3 and my Patent Application No. 3700264. These patents use the lid handles to open the lid and are also dependent on the type of bin handles. Both bin and lid handles have complicated the designs and increased production costs because of their many shapes. Another approach has therefore been sought and found. The results are: 1) The lid handles no longer play any part. 2) The bin handles no longer play any major part. 3) The lid is raised on the lid arm. 4) The angle of opening is larger (60@). 5) The new opener is lighter (3000 grams). 6) It is easier to produce. 7) It is cheaper to produce. The apparatus is suspended unchanged on the bin in a bin handle, and the lid arm is inserted by lifting the lid by hand, the lid being let down into the U-shaped stirrup (14). When the foot pedal is operated the lid is raised on the lid arm via a lever arm and a lifting rod with an articulated U-shaped stirrup (14). When the foot is removed, the lid closes as a result of its own weight. <IMAGE>
