PURPOSE:To maintain a sealing function even if the body or port of a tilting furnace deforms by closing the port of the tilting furnace hermetically by combining primary water sealing means and secondary water sealing means. CONSTITUTION:While a furnace body 1 is held in a regular position, a vertically moving cylinder 7 is extended to seat a skirt member 8 on a port 5. The water sealing cylinder 6c in a hoot part 6 inserted into the sealing water in a water sealing tank 8b to seal the hood part with the water. At the same time, the sealing ring 11 suspended from the cylinder 8d of the member 8 contacts with a sealing plate 14 mounted to the stanchion 15 of a trunnion ring. Cooling water is introduced through a pipeline 18 into the plate 14, and the inside of a suction ring groove 11b is evacuated to a negative pressure through a vacuum suction pipe 12 and a flexible pipe 13, whereby the ring 11 and the plate 14 are brought into tight contact with each other and the secondary hermetic sealing is accomplished. In the stage of tilting the tilting furnace, air is fed from the pipe 12 to the ring 11b to develop atmospheric pressure and the cylinder 7 is shrank to move the member 8 and the ring 11 upward to the standby positions. |
