<p>PURPOSE:To provide an antibacterial substance composed of a peptide having a constituent element comprising a fragment containing an N-terminal amino acid residue of lepidopteran and having an alkylamide group introduced to the C-terminal, having high antibacterial activity and highly useful widely as agricultural chemicals and pharmaceuticals. CONSTITUTION:A polypeptide composed of 18 straight-chain amino acids and having t-butoxycarbonyl (Boc) and COOH at the terminals is synthesized. The sequence of the 18 amino acids of the polypeptide is same as the 18 amino acid sequence (including N-terminal amino acid residue) which is the minimum unit to participate in the antibacterial activity of the synthetic lepidopteran A of formula. The COOH terminal of the polypeptide is condensed with a compound of formula CH3(CH2)nNH2 (n is 2-16) to convert the COOH terminal into CONH(CH2)nCH3 terminal. The Boc is removed and converted to NH2 terminal with trifluoroacetic acid and the existing protecting groups are eliminated to obtain the objective compound.</p> |
