A rotational control apparatus in the form of a clutch-brake combination includes an improved housing (150) having a cylindrical body portion (152) and first and second housing ends (154, 156) removably secured thereto. The body portion includes an outwardly radially extending annular member (160) forming a mounting flange for one housing end, and an inwardly radially extending annular member 72 forming an interface brake surface for contact by a friction drive disc 28. The first housing end may include an axially extending projection having surfaces for receipt in the cylindrical body to form a cavity for receipt of a piston 48 serving to move the disc between drive and brake positions. The clutch-brake in a preferred form further includes an improved friction interface disc (28) including a stamped flat ring portion secured to a second flat ring portion of a cast friction interface element in a spaced condition to form spaced cutouts for heat ventilation. <IMAGE>
