The sensor-controlled mfg. and/or assembly system comprises interconnected system elements which determine the degrees of freedom of the system. The system is partic. intended for a motor car (1) assembly line (2). The system comprises independent units (3,5) of two types each having freedom of movement along and/or about a number of coordinate axes (x,y,z). Units (3) of one type carry (4,6) the workpieces (1), transport (2) these to successive assembly stations (11,12,22), and position them as required. The other units (5) are arranged at the respective stations and provided with the various tool assemblies (7, etc) to carry out the required operations under sensor control e.g. monitored by a camera (8). ADVANTAGE - Relatively simple system is readily adaptable to specific assembly requirements and can be easily integrated in prodn. line. |
