A tube 6 for use in cultivating plants which grow in a loose manner, e.g. ivy, has an open lower end 12 provided with one or more downward projections 20 of planar or part-cylindrical form. The tube containing the plant is inserted in a flowerpot, the plant roots growing through the bottom of the tube into growing medium in the pot. <IMAGE>
