The base (1) of plastics material is fixed to the wall, ceiling, beam, etc., using a screw (2) which has an expansion plug (3) and a cross-head cap (2a). A flange on the plug presses on the countersunk edge of a slot (1a) through the base (1). When the screw has been tightened, a hinged cover (1c) is closed over the base and retained with clips (1e). The cable or pipe is then laid on top of the cover and retained by a U-shaped saddle (4), which has ridged legs (4a) and a deformable insert (4b). The saddle is pushed home until the insert is holding the cable or pipe securely.
