PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain images with favorable light resistance as well as high density and high resolution, by providing an ink-absorbing layer comprising particulates of an organic high molecular weight substance soluble in or swellable with a solvent in an ink, on the surface of a base. CONSTITUTION:The combination of an oil-based ink containing a high boiling point organic solvent with an ink-absorbing layer comprising particulates of an organic high molecular weight substance soluble in or swellable with the solvent can be used. Also, a combination of a water-based ink containing water and a water-miscible organic solvent with particulates of an organic high molecular weight substance soluble in or swellable with water or the water-miscible solvent may be used. Namely, particulates of a water-soluble resin or of an organic high molecular weight substance soluble in or swellable with a water-miscible organic solvent are incorporated into the ink-absorbing layer, and ink jet recording is conducted by using a water-based ink, whereby it is possible to obtain an ink jet recording sheet having ink setting properties and light resistance superior to those of a conventional ink jet recording sheet having an ink-absorbing layer formed from a solution of a water-soluble high molecular weight substance or of an organic high molecular weight substance soluble in or swellable with a water-miscible organic solvent. |
