<p>PURPOSE:To easily obtain high-purity gaseous hydrogen at a low cost by occluding impure gaseous hydrogen contg. O2, CO, etc., as impurities in a specified hydrogen storage alloy, converting the impurities into H2O, CH4, etc., on heating, and then taking out gaseous hydrogen. CONSTITUTION:Impure gaseous hydrogen contg. O2 and/or CO as impurities is introduced into a bed consisting of a hydrogen storage alloy (e.g., LaNi4.7.Al0.3) shown by the formula (R is a rare-earth element, A is Al, Si, Cr, Fe, Mn, Co, Cu, Ca, and Mg, and 0<=x<=1), and occluded in the alloy. The hydrogen storage alloy bed is then heated to >=60 deg.C, hence the O2 and/or CO present in the hydrogen storage alloy bed as impurities are converted into H2O and/or CH4, and the atmosphere contg. the H2O and/or CH4 in the hydrogen storage alloy bed is purged. Gaseous hydrogen is then taken out from the hydrogen storage alloy bed under the gaseous hydrogen discharge conditions, and high-purity gaseous hydrogen is obtained.</p> |
