PURPOSE:To obtain the direct positive color image having less lowering of the color density, even in case of processing a photosensitive material with a color developer which does not substantially contain benzyl alcohol for a short period by developing the photosensitive material contg. a specific color coupler with the developing solution which does not substantially contain benzyl alcohol, at <=11.5pH, in the presence of a specific accelerator for forming nuclei. CONSTITUTION:The color coupler is substantial non-diffusive, and is composed of a compd. capable of forming or releasing substantially the non-diffusive dye by effecting oxidative-coupling with an aromatic primary amine color developing agent. The developing is effected at <=11.5pH with the developing solution which does not substantially contain benzyl alcohol inn the presence of the accelator for forming nuclei which is selected from the compds. having at least one of an org. group comprising thioether, amino, ammonium, ether or a heterocyclic ring group and a group capable of adsorbing silver halide. Thus, the direct positive color image having less lowering the color density is obtd. even in case that the photosensitive material is processed with the color developing solution which does not substantially contain benzyl alcohol, for the short period. |
