PURPOSE:To obtain a converter of TE10 system mode which has good frequency characteristics at an octave band by converting a circular waveguide of TE01 mode into two rectangular waveguides of TE10 system mode and then connecting again these waveguides with the same phase via the right-twisted and left- twisted waveguides respectively. CONSTITUTION:The millimeter waves transmitted by a circular waveguide of TE10 mode are divided into two parts via multiple holes 14 and 15 and transmitted to rectangular waveguides 2 and 3 of TE10 mode respectively. These millimeter waves are twist-synthesized by a right-twisted waveguide 16 and a left-twisted waveguide 17 and converted into the TE10 mode. The millimeter waves within the twisted waveguides have same phases with equal electric length during a synchronization mode although they have opposite phases in a branching mode as shown by arrows in the figure. As a result, no deterioration is produced for the frequency characteristics and the wide band characteristics can be obtained. Thus it is possible to obtain a TE01/TE10 mode converter which is effective to a millimeter wave space transmission system having no dispersion even with connection to an antenna. |
