Contact closing power is transmitted to the contact bridge (11, 12) from the driver via a pressure spring (23). The contact bridge comprises two parts, one of which (11) has an electrical function i.e. to transmit current, whilst the other (12) is mechanical, and is responsible for the rigidity of the bridge. One of the two parts of the bridge has at least one projection (26), whilst the other has a corresponding recess (25). The two parts are held together by the pressure spring (23), the projection on the one engaging in the recess on the other. - The mechanical reinforcement part (12) is of iron plate, and is formed as a tray with a flat base and upwardly drawn edges. The bridge projection (26) and deepened section (25) are above a part (11) of the contact bridge which carries current, and are turned so that the projection on the uppermost mechanical part (12) passes into the deepened section (25) in the part (11) beneath. |
