The water channel protector is based on a previously known system. The annular armature (2) is composed of rods (15) which are bent at right angles at regular spacing to form stirrups projecting into the interior of the tube. The holding devices are in the form of grilles connected to the rods in the vicinity of the stirrups. The stirrups run parallel to the interior surface of the tube. The grille is screwed to the stirrups by clamps.
